Baaba Maal is a Sengalese Singer and guitarist born in Podor, on the Senegal River. He grew up in Senegal’s cultural cross roads, Podor, where Saharan and Southern Africa mingle. Baaba Maal is one of Africa’s true international stars, who has embraced everything from electric bands to 70 piece orchestras, but it is his intimate acoustic performances, which for many properly encompass the very real nature of Maal’s work.
